What's So Great About Riga?

For anyone thinking about playing in our tournament, of course the question is – Why Riga?

Well, this is an easy one to answer. Riga is not only a beautiful city with a medieval old town, it’s also a city with soul and a passion for ice hockey. Summer time in Riga is magical, after the long winter months, all the cafe’s and bars open up their summer terraces, creating a vibe that is unmatched in Northern Europe.

The old town is where the largest concentration of bars and restaurants are, from traditional Latvian bars to hip cocktail lounges, there is something for everyone – however, during the long summer evenings you will find most people in the large outside beer gardens.

Bars & Restaurants Are Well Priced

Safe & Fun For Sport Teams & Groups

We host our tournament in 4 different arenas, all of which offer excellent facilities including bar / restaurant, multiple locker rooms, the latest ice hockey inventory and more – In fact, two of our arenas have been built inside the last 3 years, meaning when you enter the RigaCup, you are getting the best facilities possible.

All arenas are located in, or near to Riga (no more than 20mins by bus) which keeps the transfer times down, giving you more time to prepare for your hockey games. It also means if one of your teammates sleeps in, he can jump in a taxi and still make it in time for the start of the game.

Riga is a hockey mad city, because of this the level of referees is high, our staff know what it’s like to play hockey and the requirements needed to make the perfect tournament.

Hotels in Riga are in high demand, luckily we always book rooms 1 year in advance to make sure we can pass on the best price and availability to our teams. We accommodate teams over a few hotels, however all are centrally located (within 15mins of the old town). Every hotel has been checked by our staff, to make sure that it’s up to the standard we expect for all RigaCup participants.

Rooms are well equipped with all the usual things, including WIFI, tea / coffee facilities and private bathroom. Some hotels also offer spa / gym facilities but not all, not that you will need to visit a gym during your stay.

We always accommodate in twin or triple rooms to keep the cost down for you, however double & single rooms are available for additional price.
